Course Overview
The Sewing & Design course introduces students to the fundamentals of sewing and creative product-making. Students learn to work with fabrics and tools to craft functional and stylish items, gaining both technical skills and entrepreneurial knowledge.
What students will learn
Basic sewing techniques by hand and with a sewing machine
Understanding different types of fabrics and their uses
Creating simple products such as keychains, cardholders, and small accessories
Crafting larger items like pouches, drawstring bags, and aprons
Product costing, pricing, and basic entrepreneurial skills
Designing and producing items ready for sale or gifting
Skills Trainer

Nida Avance Toh
Nida Avance Toh is originally from the Philippines and has a strong passion for arts, crafts, and all things creative. She has been teaching sewing at Dignity for 7 years, inspiring students to develop their creativity and practical skills through hands-on projects.

Sarah Kamran
Sarah Kamran is a Textile Designer by training, having earned her degree in Pakistan. She has designed and created textiles that have been used by Pakistani home brands for clothing, combining creativity and industry expertise in her work.

Ker Yee Teng
Ker Yee Teng is a creative and talented sewing instructor, with a background in Fashion Design. A mother of two, she also designs and sews gymnast clothing for a local brand, bringing both professional experience and hands-on expertise to her students.

Course Overview
This beginner’s Art course introduces students to the fundamentals of art theory and hands-on creation. Students explore color, lines, texture, shapes, balance, and patterns while experimenting with different art styles and mediums. The course emphasizes creativity and cultural exploration, culminating in a personal portfolio and end-of-term exhibition.

Fundamentals of art theory: color, lines, texture, shapes, balance, and patterns

Skills Trainer
Ms. Madhurie Duz
Ms. Madhurie is a visual artist from Kuching, Sarawak, with a strong background in fine art and creative practice. She holds both a Bachelor’s degree and postgraduate qualification in Fine Art and Technology, and has trained through an apprenticeship in Yogyakarta under Indonesian fine artist Lugas Syllabus.

At Dignity, she guides students to explore visual arts through hands-on learning, helping them build technical skills, creativity, and confidence in their own artistic expression.

Course Overview
The Coding & Web Design course introduces students to programming, game development, and website creation in a hands-on, interactive environment. Students start with visual coding in Scratch before progressing to full-featured web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Fundamental programming concepts, including decision-making and loops

Ms. Sarah Choong
Ms. Sarah is a multimedia designer specializing in graphic design. A graduate of Taylor’s University with a BA (Hons) in Interactive Multimedia Design, she spent over five years in the corporate sector before transitioning into her role as a skills trainer. She has experience creating social media and web content, custom patterns, shop drawings, and product photography.
