    Woodworking
    Course Overview
    The Woodworking course introduces students to making practical products using their own hands. Through hands-on training, students learn how to work safely with tools and machinery to design, build, and finish simple wooden items.

    Students gain practical experience creating accessories, serving boards, and simple furniture.

    Dignity alumni have interned or worked with organisations such as Kian.
    What students will learn

    • Understanding different types of wood and their uses
    • Operating basic woodworking machinery, such as band-saws

    Skills Trainer
    Mr. Muhammad Ismail
    Mr. Muhammad is a passionate woodworker and footballer, and is also a coach for U-16 and U-18 boys. He started as a student in Dignity College 10 years ago, and has taught multiple groups of students since then.

    Sports Management & Coaching
    Course Overview
    The Sports Management & Coaching course is designed for students who enjoy sports and want to learn how sporting activities and events are planned, managed, and delivered.

    Through a mix of theory and hands-on experience, students learn how to organise sports programmes, manage events and tournaments, and coach individuals across different age groups. Students also take part directly in organising the Dignity Cup Tournament annually.

    What students will learn

    • Organising sports activities for communities
    • Coaching students of different ages and genders

    Skills Trainer
    Mr. Jeremy Chin
    Mr. Jeremy joined Dignity in 2015 as a Lower Secondary Teacher and later on, became the Lead Teacher in the same department (2016-2021). Currently, Jeremy serves as the Sports Development Program Lead and works together with Manchester City and Barcelona to deliver quality sports training programs for coaches and students at Dignity, as well as organizing the yearly Faisal Cup Tournament. He is committed to guiding and supporting students to help them build a strong foundation, character and skills for their future success. Mr. Jeremy completed a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from UTAR and is currently pursuing his Masters in Education and Leadership.

    Electrical Wiring
    Course Overview
    This course introduces students to the basics of electrical wiring based on Malaysia's SKM Tahap 2 standards. It is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to safely and efficiently handle electrical wiring tasks in both residential and commercial settings. Learn about the importance of proper wiring practices to ensure safety and reliability in electrical systems.

    • Basic principles of electrical wiring and circuitry
    • How to install and maintain electrical systems in various environments

    Trainer
    Messi Skills Academy
    Messi Skills Academy offers training in Electrical Wiring and Computer IT & Network Installation, following the Malaysian SKM Syllabus. Started in 2014, the academy has trained hundreds of students to receive their certificates and diplomas in both subjects.
  • Urban Gardening
    Urban Gardening
    Course Overview
    This course introduces students to sustainable gardening in urban spaces.
    Students will learn how to grow vegetables and herbs using organic methods, experience the end-to-end cycle of planting, maintaining and harvesting vegetables.

    The course also covers plant biology, growth cycles, and environmental awareness, helping students understand where food comes from and how to protect the environment. Through hands-on projects, students design and maintain gardens, create raised beds, and gain practical skills in small-scale produce management.
    Career Pathways
    You might consider going into: agriculture, food production, nutrition science, urban gardening, sustainability educator.

    What students will learn

    • Organic methods of gardening, like using compost, enzymes and worms to keep soil healthy

    Skills Trainer
    Mr. Khai
    Teacher Khai grew up in the village and was exposed to agriculture from a young age. Over the years, he started several agricultural projects, which led him to the realisation that our actions and lifestyles have a significant impact on the environment. This became the motivation for Khai to become a teacher so that he can teach and influence young people to be responsible and choose a sustainable lifestyle.
